" chaturvarnam maya krutsnam guNa karma vibhagasaha"
Brahmana, Kshatriyas, Vysya, Sudra are the four castes which constitute a society in our country. Marriages used to take place in between the people of same caste.
Inter caste marriages were beyond imagination in those days of Arjuna's era.
Social norms of marriage, family traditions, customs and culture of a perticular caste are very strictly followed by that caste.
If not followed, what happens to the society ,is explained by Arjuna, in First chapter of Gita.ie Arjuna vishal a yoga.
Arjuna was asked to kill his cousin brothers and his elders, in war Kurukshetra.
Seeing Bheeshma, Drona, Krupa and his kith and kin in the war field, he felt aghast, dropped the arrows and bow, and started narrating to Lord Sri Krishna the dare consequences of killing Families.
"Kula kshaye pranasyanthi kula dharmasya sanathanaha
Dharma Nashe kulam kruthsam a dharma bhibhavathyutha."
When a caste destruction happens, the honoured family traditions are lost, unrighteousness overtakes the whole family.
Adharmabhibhavath. Krishna pradushyanthi KULASThriyaha
Sthreeshu dushtasu Varshneya! Jaayathe varnasankaraha.
Arjuna says::::::
O Krishna! When unrighteousness prevailed, the women of the family become corrupt, and when the women r corrupt, there begins mixture of castes.
The cross castes disturb and destroy the customs , traditions abseved from ages.
Disrespect towards traditions, direct the families to an indisciplined style of life, where no rigid binding to any norm of the society exists.; here from starts the caste system collapsing.
Social values become weak and alterable to one's own convenience. SAsthrAs defined Vedic norms will be ignored.That means Dharma is disrespected. Unrighteous attitude overtakes the families,;where unrighteousness, there discipline dies,; social system, caste system,creed system collapses.;their ancesters are forgotten. Ancesters miss there offerings, and fall from heavens,;
Pitrudevatas( demised ancesters ) are deprived of the funeral offerings.
The long standing kula dharma, jathi dharma ( truthful traditions of caste and creed )
will be destroyed because of this mixture of castes.
When any person of any caste dies, funeral rites are systematically performed to facilitate that Atma to reach the higher heavenly zones. This is written in Bramhanda puraNa and other scriptures. Different ceremonies with different specified offerings lift the demised Jeevi , to reach the higher Devine planes. This topic is explained in detail, also in Ramayana and Mahabharata.
But, when kula dharma is destroyed due to the mixture of castes, the Pitrudevatas
will be deprived of heavens and perpetually doomed to live in hell. Here, logic is that even after death, Jeevi demised will be connected to the related surviving Jeevies for some period of time.In this period of time, if the defined ceremonial rites are done as per SAsthrAs, demised Jeevi raises to the Devine planes, escaping from the earth's catch. The same is emphasised by Arjuna in the below sloka.
Utsanna. Kuladharmanam manushyanam Janardana
Narake niyatham vaso bhavatheethyanusuksham
Hence,Mixing of castes and creeds should be avoided to stop the Destruction of Dharma, says Arjuna. Of course, entire Bhagavat Gita preaches about Karma and Dharma.
Deviation from defined Rightuous norms, and traditions of any caste or any creed
will damage the families and consequently society too.
As Bhagavdgita is authentic and speaks about Dharma Rakshana , we may have to give a thought to this aspect of Kula, jathi Sankaram, and their consequences.
