All five sences are under Mind's controle, where,mind is under Life breath's controle.
Life breath is praNa vayu which runs the entire mechanism of this human body.
PraNa vayu, praNa shakti along with Mind and Atma shakti runs the system.
Regulating the praNa vayu by using yogic techniques is called PraNayamam.
Vyana, apana, Udana ,samana are few more types of vayu produced in our body.
They are not useful for yogic practice. But only PraNa vayu,ie Life breath is usefull in Yogabhyasa.
Pradhana shaktayaha praNa sthE vy samsara rakshakaa
Vaseekruteshu praneshu jeeyathe sarvamEvahi
Pranavayu is the first most important energy form which is protecting the entire universe.
If one conquers praNa vayu,can conquer everything.
Vyasabhashyam says
Thapo na param Pranayamath,thatho visuddhirmalAnam
Deeptischa gnanassya
No penance is more powerful than PraNayam.Pranayam cleans the dirt in the body,
and purifies it. Lights the GnAnam.( intellect )
Pranayama burns all diffects, all filth, all faults in the body.saya Yogavasitam.
How to do PraNayamam ?
Sit Squat in a clean place, on a seat which is study, close the right nostril with right hand thumb, breathe heavily through left nostril,hold the breath as long as u can,Now slowly leave the breath from right nostril.Repeat the same process in reverce with ur right Nostril.
In this process of PraNayam, filling, holding and leaving the breath, are the three consecutive acts done in a rythem 1:4:2 counts.ie, if u inhale in one second, hold 4sec and exhale in 2sec. Inhalation is named Purakam, holding is Kumbhakam,
Exhalation is named Rechakam. This is the terminology of YogasAsthrA.
Hence,Purakam,Kumbhkam and Rechakam are done one after another in Pranayam.
The above mentioned order of Pranayam,is Veidika pranayam, suggested in Gita.
Purakam strengthens the elements in the body.
Kumbhkam preserves the elements of the body by increasing the longevity.
Rechakam burns the sins and ensures Yogasiddhi. If Rechakam is slowed down, sins
Will be cleaned fast.
When to practice Pranayam?
Start in the early morning( brahmi muhurtham )ie before Sun rise, continue till Sun rises. Pranayam done in this time is so effective that it washes away all sins done by one,either knowingly or unknowingly. Any kind of problems related to skin, blood, muscles-bones,fat and mind can be corrected by regular practice of Pranayam.
Advantages of doing Pranayam.
Multiple advantages. First of all intellect gets sharpened. Mind becomes Disciplined,&
Purified. Chittasuddhi paves way to fix the Mind in Paramathma.
Nischalathathve Jeevanmukthihi......Bhajagovindam by Sri Sankaracharya.
Purakam ,Kumbhkam purifies the physical body, whereas Rechakam burns the sins.
Dehasuddhi and Manahsuddhi guides the yogi towards Atmasakshathkara.
Pranayam, when regularly done, gives Devine energies, extends longevity, grants sankalpa siddhi. Darkens and strengthens the hair. There are many more advantages by doing Pranayam
daily with dedication. One should do this and experience personally.
Results are assured,and amazing if ur faith is unflinching.So try to be a Yogi.
The ultimate purpose of any yoga tool is Atmagnanam,this goal can be achieved in a
short period of time, in an easy way by Pranayam.
Cautions to be followed while doing Pranayam...
In the beginning, do Purakam ,Rechakam slowly, not harshly.
Lungs and chest should be kept loose while practicing Pranayam.
Gradually increase the number of times in a day.
Preferably, do Pranayam in a place, isolated from people and silent.
As u advance,feel the results, take guidance from an expert to attain muchmore quick results.
Whoever starts his day with Pranayam will never feel exhaustion.
Pranayam works as an energy pill for the rest of the day.
